Overview

The ideal candidate for the Senior Technical Product Owner (TPO) acts as a crucial link between product

management, stakeholders, and agile development teams, ensuring that the technical implementation of a product

aligns with the overall business vision and strategy. They are responsible for guiding product development, managing

technical aspects, and ensuring product features meet both user needs and technical feasibility requirements. A

Senior Technical Product Owner should have a strong technical background and act as a technical resource,

translating technical requirements into actionable plans for the development team. TPOs ensure the technical

feasibility of features, address technical debt, and align technical solutions with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Collaborates with Product Managers to define and translate product vision and strategy into actionable technical requirements and a long-term roadmap. They own and groom the technical backlog, prioritizing features and functionalities based on technical constraints and dependencies, ensuring clarity and technical feasibility.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts and facilitate smooth collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders. Skill in building relationships with stakeholders, managing expectations, and negotiating priorities. Understanding user needs, gathering feedback, and translating it into product features that deliver a high-quality user experience.
  • Problem-solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex technical issues, interpret data, assess risks, and propose effective solutions. Capability to align technical initiatives with overarching business goals and a long-term product vision.
  • Agile Methodologies: Extensive knowledge and experience with Agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.
  • Backlog Management and Agile Execution: Creates, prioritizes, and maintains the technical product backlog, ensuring it aligns with business strategy and provides clear direction for the development team. They participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, providing technical guidance and clarifying requirements for the development team.
  • Technical Expertise & Guidance: Acts as a subject matter expert, understanding complex technical challenges and making informed trade-offs in consultation with the team. They provide technical consultation in developing and executing the product roadmap, ensuring technical excellence and addressing technical debt. Have a deep understanding of Enterprise Data Warehouse methodologies, system architecture, T-SQL, ETL (SSIS), data pipelines, and related tools (e.g., Jira, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, SSRS and other BI Reporting tools).
  • Stakeholder Communication & Relationship Management: Effectively communicates development progress, product vision, and technical considerations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership. They build strong relationships and act as a trusted agent for change with business leaders at various levels. Required · Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Identifies opportunities to improve processes, tools, and methodologies related to requirements gathering, development, and delivery. They stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform product decisions and drive innovation.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Domain Knowledge: Expertise in the specific industry or domain related to the products Business Intelligence Enterprise Data Warehouse team supports (e.g., Healthcare, Record Retrieval, Coding). ·

Qualifications

  • Must have 6-8 years of strong business analysis experience. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Exceptional written skills, capable of conveying functional details accurately and in a well-structured manner that clearly describes end-user problems and solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data findings to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing BI team while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to the healthcare domain. Prior healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Expertise in using analysis, documentation, and presentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, JIRA, etc.
  • Proficiency in BI tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.
  • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Occasional travel for meetings and conferences.

Base compensation ranges from $120,000 to $150,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.  This role is eligible for discretionary bonus consideration.
