Overview

The Application Architect (App Arch) (Enterprise) implements and governs technical architecture development and provides architectural leadership and guidance to align IT solutions and development organization with the needs of the Enterprise. Will span multiple architecture domains (e.g., Application/solution architecture, Technical/Infrastructure architecture, Information/Data Architecture & Business Architecture) to ensure balanced solutions.  This App Architect role is specific to the IAM (Identity and Access Management) technology area, specifically OKTA, from a development perspective.  The Role will provide standards on Development interfaces using Industry Standards approaches such as OIDC, OAuth, SAML, SCIM, and related.  The Architect should be an expert in the technical coding and integration needed in this area.   The architect will mentor and work with Engineering, R&D, and other Development teams on development items related to IAM integration.  Documentation and Communication skills are key.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure architectural principles such as high-performance scalability, reuse, and simplicity are implemented.
  • Works effectively with project technologists, and stakeholders to develop the application architecture and data architectures.
  • Design, develop, debug and test new software or significant enhancements to existing software applications, on specified platforms.
  • Design solutions and provide hands-on development of common components.
  • Effectively interact with project teams to quickly diagnose and resolve system problems as well as create release notes, operating procedures and technical documentation.
  • Assist in providing life-cycle support, work with IT support personnel, to solve common problems, and enhance availability and content of designated applications.
  • Assist in the evaluation of packages and tools as a part of an overall solution.
  • Effectively work with developers to optimize their investment in existing packaged and internally developed applications.
  • Serve as a mentor to technical leads and developers alike.
  • Design, document, and evangelize architecture standards and policies which enable business agility through the sharing of data sets & software intellectual property.
  • Ensure that all relevant architecture documentation is up to date.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Application/Solution architecture, Technical/Infrastructure architecture, or Information/Data Architecture.
  • Hands on experience in both greenfield development and the refactoring/rewriting of aging applications.
  • 1+ years directly leading architecture & software design for one or more teams.
  • 10+ years development experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile Model, preferably SAFe.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices.Support the effort of the architecture team in facilitating consensus on the proper level and pace of change and integration of technologies.
  • Stays current on changing business and technological environments.
  • Ability to help resolve various architectural links and technology choices in the challenge of building the model.
  • Competently strikes a balance between strategic integration issues and urgent business needs.
  • Demonstrated focus on identifying and evangelizing software reuse.
  • Relevant experience in business system application design, development and installation.
  • Solid experience in planning/architecture development and support.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing advanced application architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience in relational databases.
  • Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies for various environments.
  • Proven understanding or knowledge in object-oriented system analysis and design techniques, technical architecture, provides architectural risk assessments and architecture reviews of software systems.
  • Assisted with the functional and data analysis of application systems architecture at an enterprise level.
  • Deep expertise in one of the following Object-Oriented languages – Microsoft .NET, J2EE

  • Curiosity and Learning Agility: A strong desire to learn and explore new methodologies, techniques, and tools in the field of data analysis and insights generation is essential for staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Resilience: The ability to handle pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and overcome setbacks is important in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous analytical environment.
  • Ethical and Integrity: Upholding ethical standards and maintaining integrity in handling sensitive data and information is paramount for building trust and credibility in the insights provided

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.
  • be able to provide high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Base compensation ranges from $138,000 to $168,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

This role is based remotely and all interviews will be conducted virtually.
